Went to property to quote for rewire, Hall was a tad messy into kitchen & customer asked if I wanted a brew ....... A polite no thank you I've just had one, but thinking you must be joking mate what will I catch.

Customer " yes I'll clear the landing for the floor to come up"

His idea of clearing was to shove it all to one side.

The cable comming from behind the stud , is an extension from a location of old wall light, peeping behind stud revealed joint by terminal strip.

The 2.5mm tails are for the ringmain & are live, he told the customer it was ok to energise for the weekend so the customer had some sockets in the kitchen. He'd run out of back boxes apparently.

Same place new ringmain & lighting conductors run across kitchen inside the rsj.

This 2.5mm is live & labled at cu as cooker ?

Removed from 6 inches underground, this was a supply to a village bowls club street light & joint was wrapped inside an old plastic fretilizer bag after cable that was inside old hose pipe was cut by gardener.

I've since put in new ldouble headed street light, fed by swa with timer & contactor (photos somewhere post at a later date maybe).

Another pir for a landlord. bog standard cast 50w dl's all around the soffit of the property, done by handyman maintenance guy.

Same gaff & kitchen fitters had been hard at work, rather than cdhasing the internal plaster work, they thought it would be easier to run ringmain cables this way (done last year some time).

My grandma had an iron that worked until she died (nowt to do with electrics) that plugged into a bayonet lampholder.

I have some Christmas tree lights that my father had as a baby that attach the same way - they still work. (pics one day........)

Good Lawd, They should be in the "Black Museum" M.

I am still in my early years in 2330 , but the first word that comes into my mouth when i saw the pictures was " OMG " .. i hope that was sorted now...

i think thats a great way of wiring on external wall, saves all the hassel of chasing out...... i might start doing it his way for a full rewire  :O

If there was a poll on have you seen this done before I bet we would score 100%

Good pics to show how not to do things.

Should be in the black museam.
