Hi guys be gentle with me as this is my first timeBlushing

Dont know if this qualifies as a stupid question but, can anyone tell me if a

21 watt T5 lamp would work with a 36 watt electronic ballast ?

too much current would flow though tube

a tube will happily take just about as much current as it can get hold of - the ballast is there to limit this. so a 36W ballast will allow 36W to flow, even if its a lower rating tube installed

Welcome to the forum Tim.

There is no such thing as a stupid question on here Mate.

Thanks Guys, what got me thinking was the wholesalers offered me a ballast that was rated from 14 watts to 36 watts and as i've got some 36 watt ballasts in the motor i could save myself a few quid:p
