I was in Germany this week and my hotel room had 2 sockets, one was by the bathroom sink. Used it for charging electronics and I'm still here!

Those European charger points are supplied via an internal isolation transformer similar to the safety transformers used on building sites nowadays. I remember seeing shaver sockets by the sink in bathrooms in the UK when I've visited over the years, they're also a similar system of safety supply.
