I was told by our electrician that a gas safe registered enginner has to install these is this true?

I told him to fit a mains powered carbon monoxide detector for us.

Nonsense, "Gas Safe" only deals with the "GAS" side.

A competent, electrician should be more than competent to install these.

however, they must comply with all requirements.

I think there may a mix up here in that the gas-safe code of practice may ask for the installer to fit one if there are none present, [?]

I dunno, just a thought........

Electrician said its the gas mans job to wire up equipment????

what about a Gastrician

or get the electrician to supply a new circuit for electric to supply the equipment with electric. Then you could get the gas man to commission it by turning on the electric, and pressing the electric button.

What next ? electricians soldering gas pipes ?

Is the gas man going to safely isolate the (lighting?/ dedicated) circuit, test the circuit is dead with an approved testing device (not a voltstick), lock off the MCB etc ?. Will he use the right cable ? will he terminate it correctly? will he sleeve the cpc ? will he interlink the detector with the existing detectors which are (possibly) already in the property ?. Somehow I doubt it.
