Hi all,

I wonder if someone could help me with this:

I've recently qualified as a domestic electrician and for a couple of different reasons I intend on going it alone straight away.

Depending on which service provider I go with I will most likely have either one or two of my pieces of work assessed.

What I was wondering is, with regards this work, do I have to inform the local building control office before carrying out the work?

I'm from the Emerald Isle but I live in sunny Yorkshire :D

If its notifiable, yes. You can do minor work in a special location or on a special installation that will be notifiable.

damien, yes you SHOULD tell your lbc that you want to do work etc, but tell them that it is for an assesment and they may say carry on without fee, though when i asked gloucestershire they wanted 375 noted, i phoned herefordshire up and they said if its an assesment just notify it when you have passed. so did the job over the border at my mums house
