Swa Termination - The Correct Way

not quite a jubilee clip, but it is a clamp around the armour. do you see the relevance now or still completely blind?
tofco & lucy are the main manufacturers of street lighting cutouts used widely in UK. so not exactly 'cheap and nasty'
1. It was done probably 30 years ago.
2. The op even says it is PILC.
As we are talking modern day SWA cable I do not see the relevance.
yes, its PILC, but it still has an armour thats got a clamp on it. would it help if someone edited the picture and highlighted the armour & the clamp since you dont seem to be able to see it
Don't read too much into it, just remembered the picture from a short while ago and thought it was vaguely on topic. Feel free to ignore it rather than be an obstreperous dick as per usual.

So because it has been done on a different type of cable about 30 years ago that means it is ok to do now on this cable?
Street lighting n the public highway does not need to meet 7671 so maybe those lighting cutouts would suffice. I am not sure on what the standards are for public highway lighting terminations. Lighting cutouts for private columns should be terminated using the appropriate SWA gland if you wish to meet 7671 IMO.

Where does it say you are going against MI's?
They're the MI's for those glands. If you are not using those glands you do not need to follow those MI's.
those MI's state how to install various glands. they do not state that it the only permitted method, or prohibit any other method
OK,,, so they're MI's for glands..... If you're not using them then why would you follow their instructions
But then that will only be the instructions for that manufacturers cable,,, not all cables of that type
