    any one done this

Interesting to read that part of the course entails "Carrying out a periodic inspection on an existing three phase installation and correct completion of a periodic inspection report." Do NAPIT approved sparks have a different BS7671 to the rest of us?

    NVQ level 3 (2356)

2356 is a site based qualification, with all evidence gathered from site via job write-ups (supported by photos etc.) or from on site assessments. The 65 performance objectives need to be covered three times each, if doing the AM2 this will cover one entry for 34 of the POs (units 301, 302, 304...

    All the gear, no idea.

Reminds me of the time I was sent to check on a subbie & the firm's boy rewiring a 3 bed semi (I was a subbie myself but had previously worked for the boss for 8 years). I walked in to find the boy connecting a 10mm main bond to the kitchen sink, a quick look at the mains position revealed a...

    nvq 2357 level 3

Yes it is a proper qualification, it should give you the same standing as someone who has done the L2 & L3 2330 tech. certs & the 2356 L3 NVQ. From last year Summit Skills (the Sector Skills Council) ruled that all new apprentices would have to take the 2357 diploma rather than the...

    nvq 2357 level 3

Sounds like a lot of money, or is that over three years? If three years at full cost (no Government funding)it's probably about right. 2357 is not an NVQ, it's a Level 3 diploma which combines knowledge units (equivalent to the 2330 or 2365 technical certificates)and performance units...

    Worlds best extension lead

A health & Safety officer from an Agricultural College told me the story of a farmer using a pressure washer plugged into a wound up extension lead. As the lead heated up & started to smoulder the farmer realised it was getting hot so decided to cool it down with the pressure washer...

    2391 new marking method

2391 generally has a pass rate of about half the candidates. It is not an easy exam. Too many candidates are not ready for or do not prepare properly for the exam. As far as I know there has been no change in the marking process, the Chief Examiner's reports are available on the C&G...

    2356 NVQ3 extension

2365 is a new qualification effectively replacing the 2330 technical certificate at L2 & L3, the content is broadly similar to 2330 but also includes the environmental/renewable energy knowledge units of the 2357 diploma. This has come about because 2330 no longer gets Government funding...

    Armstrong

I don't believe a lot the Americans claim but I reckon if they hadn't gone to the moon the USSR would have made a big noise about them lying... Amusing as the pencil thing is wasn't this debunked on QI a couple of years ago? Something to do with the dangers presented by bits of graphite...

    City and Guilds 2365 LVL3

As far as I know the 2365 is broadly speaking the 2330 (practical assessments likely to be exactly the same)with the renewables from the 2357 added in. It should be acceptable for the 2356 NVQ underpinning knowledge or map across for the 2357 knowledge units. Some colleges will still run 2330...

    oven tripping rcd

It's not a good idea to remove or reconnect live cables, as I'm sure you know electricity is dangerous and can kill. Does the same thermostat definitely control the oven and the grill? If the RCD's tripping the line & neutral current are out of balance, somewhere current (either from line...

    oven tripping rcd

As Slipshod says above, if the RCD trips when you touch a live connection then the RCD is doing it's job (and saving your life!) It is not clear from your original post what you have actually done. When you say you've moved the live what exactly have you moved where?

    oven tripping rcd

It's not a good idea to touch live connections... When you say you've moved the live do you mean line? Where did you move it to?
